Pollination
Our journey begins with an exploration of the vital process of pollination. Through captivating visuals and easy-to-understand explanations, the children will learn how bees transfer pollen from one flower to another, fertilizing plants and enabling them to produce fruits and seeds. To make the learning experience even more engaging, some lucky children will become flowers and get ‘pollinated’ by a bumble bee to help everyone understand the process firsthand.

After the captivating PowerPoint presentation on the wonderful world of bees, the real fun begins with a series of engaging and hands-on activities.

Observational Bee Hive
The observational beehive, a captivating and unique feature of The Bee Lady’s presentations, is a live beehive that allows children to witness the fascinating inner workings of a real bee colony. This is only available for visits from late September to the end of April as during the winter months, it becomes crucial to prioritize the well-being of the bee colony. However, to ensure an enriching experience for visits during the winter season, The Bee Lady has come up with innovative alternatives. An interactive 360-degree video is used to virtually transport the children into the world of bees. This immersive experience allows them to explore the hive from all angles, witnessing bees in action and learning about their behavior, all without disturbing the live colony.
Additionally, to further engage the children’s imagination and understanding, The Bee Lady has designed a special beehive exhibit with life-sized photos inside. This clever setup provides an up-close look at bees in their natural habitat, allowing the children to observe bee activity and hive structure during the winter months when the live bees are not accessible. By offering these alternatives during the winter season, The Bee Lady ensures that the educational experience remains engaging and informative year-round, while also prioritizing the well-being of the bees
Beeswax Candle Making
In this activity the children get a hands-on experience crafting their very own beeswax candle. The process is simple and engaging. Each child receives a sheet of pure beeswax and rolls it tightly around a wick to create their candle to take home, leaving them with a tangible reminder of their experience with The Bee Lady.

Anatomy of the Bee Activity
The anatomy of the bee activity offers a flexible and interactive experience that caters to different learning styles and preferences. We believe in empowering schools and teachers to choose the best approach that suits their students’ needs. Here are the various options available for the anatomy of the bee activity:
1) Draw and Label a Bee: In this option, the children can draw a bee and label its different body parts. This activity not only helps reinforce their knowledge of bee anatomy but also allows them to showcase their artistic skills.
2) Pre-Printed Anatomy Worksheet: To streamline the activity, the school can use pre-printed anatomy worksheets. These worksheets will have a bee outline with blank spaces for labeling each body part
3) Playdough and Pipe Cleaners: For a hands-on and creative experience, the school can provide playdough and pipe cleaners. The children will have the opportunity to sculpt their very own bee, replicating its unique body parts. This tactile approach allows them to explore the bee’s anatomy in a fun and engaging way while fostering their creativity.
The anatomy of the bee activity is designed to be adaptable and inclusive, ensuring that every child can participate and gain valuable insights into the world of bees. If teacher prefer they and run a different activity that aligns with the desired learning outcomes for this topic.
